Geometric documentation and the representation of buildings, with the objective of using these as a basis for historic or architectonic studies, offer a wide range of methodologies, each with their own specific characteristics. Before beginning documentation, it is necessary to make a preliminary analysis of the final needs of the work to choose the most suitable method of documentation.
