Archaeological intervention in the restoration of the Church of El Salvador in Escaño (Burgos), although this was done simultaneously with restoration work, was useful in defining various construction stages, creating a possibility to restore the temple to its original state, although not to the extent that could have happened if restoration had been carried out prior to the project and as a landmark in the study of the first Romanesque period in Castile.
